The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
