The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
