The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
