The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 And the Book written 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
