A multitude from the ancients. 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 But persisted in that greater sin, 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 filling your bellies, with it 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten – 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Have you considered what you sow? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We willed, surely We would make it chaff, so that ye would be left wondering. 65 crying, "We have been left to suffer loss. 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
