The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
