Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, 3 That He may forgive some of your sins and prolong your term till an appointed time. Surely when God's appointed time is come it will not be put off, if only you knew! 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 "Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private, 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will shower upon you torrents from heaven, 11 'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers." 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 "Have you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
