Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
