Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha, Meem. 1 By the Clear Book, 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 no Prophet came to them except that they mocked him, 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And indeed if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will surely say: "The All-Mighty, the All-Knower created them." 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 In order that you may mount firmly on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts)." 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
