He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attend to him, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 olives, dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
