The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
