Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
