The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
