The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
