The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 stay away from sins 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 So that is a tough day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then looked he, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
