Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a high Garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
