Then the two went forth until, when they embarked on the boat, he made a hole in it, whereupon Moses exclaimed: "Have you made a hole in it so as to drown the people in the boat? You have certainly done an awful thing." 71 He answered: "Did I not tell thee that thou canst have no patience with me?" 72 [Musa (Moses)] said: "Call me not to account for what I forgot, and be not hard upon me for my affair (with you)." 73 and so they departed. Thereafter they met a boy and he killed him. He (Moses) exclaimed: 'What, have you killed a pure soul and it was not done (in retaliation) for a soul? you have done a terrible thing' 74 ۞ (Khidr) said: "Did I not tell you that you can have no patience with me?" 75 (Moses) said: If I ask thee after this concerning aught, keep not company with me. Thou hast received an excuse from me. 76 So they went on until they came to a town. They asked its people for food, but were refused hospitality. They found a wall in the town which was about to fall down. His companion buttressed it and Moses said, "Had you wished, you could have demanded payment for your labours." 77 He said: This is the parting between thee and me! I will announce unto thee the interpretation of that thou couldst not bear with patience. 78 "As for the ship, it belonged to Masakin (poor people) working in the sea. So I wished to make a defective damage in it, as there was a king after them who seized every ship by force. 79 “And in respect of the boy – his parents were Muslims and we feared that he may incite them to rebellion and disbelief.” 80 so We decided that their Lord should replace him by a better and more virtuous son. 81 And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure belonging to them, and their father was a righteous man; so your Lord desired that they should attain their maturity and take out their treasure, a mercy from your Lord, and I did not do it of my own accord. This is the significance of that with which you could not have patience. 82
