Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
