The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 The unbelievers-- there is none to avert it-- 2 From Allah, the Lord of the ways of ascent. 3 Whereby the angels ascend unto Him and also the spirit, On a Day whereof the measure is fifty thousand years. 4 So, (O Prophet), persevere with gracious perseverance. 5 behold, men look upon that [reckoning] as something far away 6 But We see it [as] near. 7 On the day when the heavens become like molten metal. 8 And the hills become as flakes of wool, 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 They will be seeing them; the guilty will wish if only he could redeem himself from the punishment of that day, by offering his sons. 11 And his wife and his brother 12 And his kin that sheltered him. 13 And all those who are in the earth – then only if the redemption saves him! 14 But never. It is pure white flame 15 Dragging by the head, 16 It will summon whoever turns his back and flees, 17 Who amasses and then hoards. 18 ۞ Indeed man is created very impatient, greedy. 19 When evil toucheth him, he is bewailing. 20 And when good toucheth him he is begrudging. 21 except those who are steadfast 22 Those who are constant at their prayer 23 And those in whose wealth is a recognised right. 24 for those that ask and those that are dispossessed, 25 And those who believe in the Day of Judgement, 26 And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord - 27 for, behold, of their Sustainer's chastisement none may ever feel [wholly] secure; 28 And those who of their private parts are guards. 29 except from their wives and what their right hands own, for these they are not blameworthy. 30 But whosoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are trespassers. 31 And those who respect their trusts and covenants; 32 And those who are upright in their testimonies, 33 And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer: 34 It is these who will be honoured in Gardens. 35
