The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the setting star, 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
