And who could be more wrong-doing than he who either foists a lie on Allah or gives the lie to His signs? Surely such wrong-doers shall not attain success. 21 for one Day We shall gather them all together, and then We shall say unto those who ascribed divinity to aught beside God: "Where, now, are those beings whom you imagined to have a share in God's divinity?" 22 Then they will have no excuse but to say: by God our Lord, we have not been associaters. 23 You will see how they will lie against themselves, and all their slanderings will be vain. 24 And of them are some who hearken unto thee, and We have set over their hearts veils lest they understand it and in their ears heaviness, and though they see any sign they will not believe therein; in as much as when they come to thee, they dispute with thee, then who disbelieve say: this is naught but the fables of the ancients. 25 And they prohibit others therefrom, and they withdraw therefrom, and they destroy not but their own souls while they perceive not. 26 If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with the Fire! They will say: "Would that we were but sent back! Then would we not reject the signs of our Lord, but would be amongst those who believe!" 27 Yea, in their own (eyes) will become manifest what before they concealed. But if they were returned, they would certainly relapse to the things they were forbidden, for they are indeed liars. 28 And some [of the unbelievers] say: "There is nothing beyond our life in this world, for We shall not be raised from the dead." 29 If you could only see when they are made to stand before their Lord! He will ask them, "Is this [second life] not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord!" He will say, "Then, taste the punishment that comes from your having refused to acknowledge the truth!" 30
