Whenever We sent a prophet to a town, We took up its people in suffering and adversity, in order that they might learn humility. 94 We then replaced their misfortune with well-being until they were relieved and began saying, "Our fathers had also experienced good and bad days." Suddenly, We struck them (with torment) while they were all unaware (of what was happening). 95 Had the people of the villages believed and been cautious, We would have opened upon them the blessings from heaven and earth. But they belied, and We seized them for what they earned. 96 Do the people of these towns now feel secure against the coming of Our punishment upon them by night while they are asleep? 97 Or, do they feel secure against the coming of Our punishment upon them in the forenoon while they are at play? 98 Did they then feel secure against the Plan of Allah. None feels secure from the Plan of Allah except the people who are the losers. 99
