The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said: Lo! this is some knowing wizard, 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 to bring thee every cunning sorcerer.' 112 And the sorcerers came to Pharaoh, saying, 'We shall surely have a wage, if we should be the victors?' 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "You have believed in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission. Surely, this is a plot which you have plotted in the city to drive out its people, but you shall come to know. 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
