۞ It is He - Allah -Who created you from a single being, and out of it He made its mate, that he may find comfort in her. And when he covers her, she bears a light burden and goes about with it. Then, when she grows heavy, they pray to their Lord: 'If You bestow upon us a healthy child, we will surely give thanks.' 189 But when He gives them a good one, they set up with Him associates in what He has given them; but high is Allah above what they associate (with Him). 190 Do they indeed ascribe to Him as partners things that can create nothing, but are themselves created? 191 They cannot help them, nor can they help themselves. 192 And if you [believers] invite them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is all the same for you whether you invite them or you are silent. 193 Verily, all those whom you invoke beside God are but created beings like yourselves: invoke them, then, and let them answer your prayer - if what you claim is true! 194 Do they have feet to walk on, or hands to hold with, or eyes to see and ears to hear with? Say to them: "Call your compeers, and work out a plot against me, and do not give me time. 195 Indeed, my protector is Allah, who has sent down the Book; and He is an ally to the righteous. 196 They on whom ye call beside Him have no power to help you, nor can they help you, nor can they help themselves. 197 When you call upon them for guidance, they do not hear. When you think they are looking at you, (in fact) they cannot see." 198 Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; But turn away from the ignorant. 199 If you are instigated by the Devil to evil seek refuge in God, for God hears all and knows everything. 200 Indeed those who fear get alerted whenever a temptation from the devil troubles them, and they perceive immediately. 201 And their brethren increase them in error, then they cease not. 202 And if you do not bring them a miracle [according to their (i.e. Quraish-pagans') proposal], they say: "Why have you not brought it?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (the Quran) is nothing but evidences from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe." 203 And when the Qur’an is recited, listen to it attentively and keep silent, so that you receive mercy. 204 And do thou (O reader!) Bring thy Lord to remembrance in thy (very) soul, with humility and in reverence, without loudness in words, in the mornings and evenings; and be not thou of those who are unheedful. 205 Those who are with your Lord are not too proud to worship Him. They exalt Him and to Him they prostrate. ۩ 206
