The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ They ask thee concerning (things taken as) spoils of war. Say: "(such) spoils are at the disposal of Allah and the Messenger: So fear Allah, and keep straight the relations between yourselves: Obey Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe." 1 Only they are true believers whose hearts fill up with awe when the name of God is mentioned; and their faith is further strengthened when His messages are read out to them; and those who place their trust in their Lord, 2 Those who keep up prayer and spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them. 3 Those are they who are in truth believers. For them are grades (of honour) with their Lord, and pardon, and a bountiful provision. 4 The way your Lord caused you, O dear Prophet to come forth from your home with the truth; and indeed a group of Muslims were unhappy about it. 5 Disputing with you concerning the truth after it was made manifest, as if they were being driven to death, while they were looking (at it). 6 And remember when Allah promised you that one of the two groups (of enemies) is for you, and you wished to get the one that posed no danger, and Allah willed to prove the truth with His Words, and to cut the origins of the disbelievers. 7 That He might justify Truth and prove Falsehood false, distasteful though it be to those in guilt. 8 And when you (Prophet Muhammad) prayed to your Lord for help, He answered: 'I am sending to your aid a thousand angels in succession' 9 Allah meant this as glad tidings and that your hearts may be set at rest. For every help comes from Allah alone. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. 10
