We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
