The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 The disbelievers will ardently wish that if only they had been Muslims! (At the time of death / in their graves / on the Day of Resurrection.) 2 Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). 3 And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree. 4 No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter. 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 [Yet] We never send down angels otherwise than in accordance with the [demands of] truth; and [were the angels to appear now,] lo! they [who reject this divine writ] would have no further respite! 8 It is We who sent down the Koran, and We watch over it. 9 And certainly We sent (apostles) before you among the nations of yore. 10 And whenever a Messenger came to them, they never failed to mock him. 11 Thus do We make it to enter into the hearts of the guilty; 12 They do not believe in him, and the tradition of earlier nations has passed. 13 And even if We open to them a gateway of heaven, so that they ascend into it all the while, 14 they would still say, "Our eyes have been dazzled. We are bewitched." 15
