The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of a clear Book, the Quran. 1 And it will come to pass that those who are [now] bent on denying this truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God [in their life time]. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy life and let false hopes amuse them. They will soon come to know. 3 We never destroyed a village whose term had not already been decreed. 4 No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind. 5 And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW) to whom the Dhikr (the Quran) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. 6 Why do you not bring to us the angels if you are of the truthful ones? 7 We send not down the angels, save with truth; 8 Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 And whenever a Messenger came to them, they never failed to mock him. 11 This is how We cause the hearts of the guilty ones to behave. 12 So, they will not believe in it: The example of former people is there. 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 they would have said, "Our eyes are bewildered and we have been affected by magic." 15
