We created mankind from clay, molded from mud, 26 As We fashioned jinns before from intense radiated heat. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
