And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 unto the day of a known time.' 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 (To which God) said: "This way is right by Me. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
