So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
