And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
