And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
