Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
