And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
