So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
