AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them. 81 And they hewed houses in the mountains in security. 82 But the Shout seized them in the morning, 83 and of no avail to them was all [the power] that they had acquired. 84 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but in truth; and the hour is most surely coming, so turn away with kindly forgiveness. 85 Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator. 86 We have indeed given you the seven oft-repeated (examples), and the majestic Qur'an. 87 So covet not things We have bestowed on a portion of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and protect those who believe; 88 And say: 'I am the plain warner' 89 Such as We send down for those who make division, 90 Who have made the Quran into parts. (i.e. believed in a part and disbelieved in the other). 91 But, by thy Sustainer! [On the Day of Judgment] We shall indeed call them to account, one and all, 92 For that which they have been working. 93 Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 Who place other gods besides God. They will come to know soon. 96 And well do We know that thy bosom is constricted by the [blasphemous] things that they say: 97 Exalt with the praise of your Lord and be one of those who prostrate. 98 and worship your Lord until what is certain [death] comes to you. 99
