So they both proceeded, till, when they embarked the ship, he (Khidr) scuttled it. Musa (Moses) said: "Have you scuttled it in order to drown its people? Verily, you have committed a thing "Imra" (a Munkar - evil, bad, dreadful thing)." 71 He answered: "Did I not tell thee that thou canst have no patience with me?" 72 Moses said: 'Do not blame me for what I forgot, nor press me to do something which is too difficult' 73 They continued on their journey until they met a young boy whom he killed. Moses said, "How could you murder an innocent soul? This is certainly a horrible act". 74 ۞ He said: Did I not tell thee that thou couldst not bear with me? 75 Said [Moses]: "If, after this, I should ever question thee, keep me not in thy company: [for by] now thou hast heard enough excuses from me." 76 So they went on until they came to a town. They asked its people for food, but were refused hospitality. They found a wall in the town which was about to fall down. His companion buttressed it and Moses said, "Had you wished, you could have demanded payment for your labours." 77 He said: "This brings me and you to a parting of ways. Now I shall explain to you the true meaning of things about which you could not remain patient. 78 "As for the boat, it belonged to certain men in dire want: they plied on the water: I but wished to render it unserviceable, for there was after them a certain king who seized on every boat by force. 79 And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared that he would overburden them by transgression and disbelief. 80 So we desired that their Lord might give them in his place one better than him in purity and nearer to having compassion. 81 And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure belonging to them, and their father was a righteous man; so your Lord desired that they should attain their maturity and take out their treasure, a mercy from your Lord, and I did not do it of my own accord. This is the significance of that with which you could not have patience. 82
