Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Kaf. Ha'. Ya'. Ayn. Sad. 1 Commemorate the beneficence of your Lord on Zachariah, His devotee, 2 When he cried unto his Lord a cry in secret, 3 He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy. 4 And verily I fear my kindred after me, and my wife hath been barren; so bestow on me from before Thee an heir. 5 who shall be my inheritor and the inheritor of the House of Jacob; and make him, my Lord, well-pleasing.' 6 [Thereupon the angels called out unto him: "O Zachariah! We bring thee the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son whose name shall be John. [And God says,] "Never have We given this name to anyone before him." 7 "My Lord!" [said Zachariah], "How shall I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached such extreme old age?" 8 Allah said: even so! Thy Lord saith: it is unto Me easy, whereas surely I created thee afore when thou wast not aught. 9 He said: My Lord! give me a sign. He said: Your sign is that you will not be able to speak to the people three nights while in sound health. 10 So he came forth unto his people from the Sanctuary, then he made signal to them, 'Give you glory at dawn and evening.' 11 (We said): 'O John, hold fast to the Book', and We bestowed on him judgment while yet a child 12 And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah 13 And kind to his parents, neither arrogant nor disobedient. 14 So peace on him the day he was born, the day he will die, and the day that he will be raised from the dead. 15
