Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Kaf. Ha'. Ya'. Ayn. Sad. 1 (This is) a recital of the Mercy of thy Lord to His servant Zakariya. 2 when he called upon his Lord secretly 3 saying: 'O my Lord, my bones are enfeebled, and my head glows silver with age. Yet, never Lord, have I been unblessed in prayer to You. 4 "Now I fear (what) my relatives (and colleagues) (will do) after me: but my wife is barren: so give me an heir as from Thyself,- 5 "(One that) will (truly) represent me, and represent the posterity of Jacob; and make him, O my Lord! one with whom Thou art well-pleased!" 6 'O Zachariah, We give thee good tidings of a boy, whose name is John. No namesake have We given him aforetime.' 7 He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?" 8 He said, "It will be so! Your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me for I created you when you were nothing before.'" 9 He said, “My Lord, give me a sign”; He said, “Your token is that you will not speak to people for three nights, although in proper health.” 10 So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] in the morning and afternoon. 11 'O John, take the Book forcefully'; and We gave him judgment, yet a little child, 12 and a tenderness from Us, and purity; and he was godfearing, 13 And dutiful to his parents, and he was not insolent, disobedient. 14 And peace be upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he is raised alive. 15
