Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
KaafHaYa'aeenSaad. 1 (This is) a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His slave Zakariya (Zachariah). 2 when he cried to his Lord in secret. 3 and said, "My Lord, my bones have become feeble and my hair has turned white with age. Yet I have never been deprived in receiving from You the answer to my prayers. 4 And now I fear my kinsfolk after I am gone; and my wife is barren. So give me, from Thee, a kinsman 5 Who should inherit me and inherit from the children of Yaqoub, and make him, my Lord, one in whom Thou art well pleased. 6 "O Zachariah," (it was) said, "We give you good news of a son by name of John.' To none have We attributed the name before." 7 "My Lord!" [said Zachariah], "How shall I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached such extreme old age?" 8 (The angel) said, "This is true, but your Lord says, 'For Me it is easy; I created you when you did not exist". 9 He said: My Lord! Appoint for me some token. He said: Thy token is that thou, with no bodily defect, shalt not speak unto mankind three nights. 10 Zachariah came out to his people from place of worship and inspired them to glorify the Lord both in the morning and evening. 11 'O John, take the Book forcefully'; and We gave him judgment, yet a little child, 12 And piety (for all creatures) as from Us, and purity: He was devout, 13 And was good to his parents and not forceful, nor disobedient. 14 So peace on him the day he was born, the day he will die, and the day that he will be raised from the dead. 15
