AND CALL to mind, through this divine writ, Abraham. Behold, he was a man of truth, [already] a prophet 41 Behold, he said to his father: "O my father! why worship that which heareth not and seeth not, and can profit thee nothing? 42 Father, a knowledge that has not reached you has come to me. So follow me that I may guide you to a Straight Way. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 Father, I fear that the punishment of the Merciful will fall upon you and you will become a guide of satan' 45 His father replied, "Abraham, are you telling me to give-up my gods? If you will not stop this, I shall stone you to death. Leave my house and do not come back again". 46 Abraham replied, "Peace be on you: I will pray to my Lord for your forgiveness, He has indeed been gracious to me, 47 I shall withdraw from you and all that you call upon beside Allah. I shall only call upon my Lord. I trust the prayer to my Lord will not go unanswered." 48 So when he turned away from them and those they worshipped, other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob. Each of them We made a Prophet, 49 and We gave them of Our Mercy and We appointed to them a truthful, highly sincere tongue, 50
