T H (Taa Haa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ TaHa. 1 We have not revealed unto thee (Muhammad) this Qur'an that thou shouldst be distressed, 2 but as a reminder to he who fears. 3 A revelation from Him who created the earth and the high ascending skies, 4 The Beneficent Allah is firm in power. 5 To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth, all that lies between them, and lies below the earth. 6 If you speak loudly; He has indeed knowledge of the secret and the hidden. 7 Allah! there is no god but He! To Him belong the most Beautiful Names. 8 Have you heard the story of Moses? 9 When he saw fire, he said to his family: Stop, for surely I see a fire, haply I may bring to you therefrom a live coal or find a guidance at the fire. 10 When he came close to it, a voice called out, "Moses, 11 I am your Lord. Take off your shoes, for you are in Towa, the sacred valley. 12 I Myself have chosen you; therefore, give ear to what is revealed. 13 I Am the only God. Worship Me and be steadfast in prayer to have My name always in your mind. 14 "Behold, [although] I have willed to keep it hidden, the Last Hour is bound to come, so that every human being may be recompensed in accordance with what he strove for [in life]. 15 Do not let those who disbelieve in it and follow their desires bar you from it, or you will perish. 16 "And what is that in your right hand, O Musa (Moses)?" 17 "It's my staff," he answered; "I lean on it, and fell leaves for my goats with it, and I have other uses for it." 18 He said: 'Moses, cast it down' 19 So he cast it down, and lo! it was a serpent running along. 20 Then He said: "Seize it and have no fear. We shall restore it to its former state. 21 "Now - as another Sign - place your hand under your arm and it will come out sheer white without harm (or stain). 22 "In order that We may show thee (two) of our Greater Signs. 23 Go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 24
