And certainly Haroun had said to them before: O my people! you are only tried by it, and surely your Lord is the Beneficent Allah, therefore follow me and obey my order. 90 They said: "We will not stop worshipping it (i.e. the calf), until Musa (Moses) returns to us." 91 [Moses] said, "O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray, 92 from [abandoning them and] following me? Hast thou, then, [deliberately] disobeyed my commandment?" 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 (Moses) said: And what hast thou to say, O Samiri? 95 He said, "I perceived what they did not see. So I took a handful [of dust] from the footprint of the Messenger and threw it in [the calf]. That is what my inner self prompted me to do." 96 He said: Begone then, surely for you it will be in this life to say, Touch (me) not; and surely there is a threat for you, which shall not be made to fail to you, and look at your god to whose worship you kept (so long); we will certainly burn it, then we will certainly scatter it a (wide) scattering in the sea. 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 And so We narrate to you the stories of the past, and We have given you a remembrance from Us. 99 Whoever turns aside from it, he shall surely bear a burden on the day of resurrection 100 and will abide under this burden for ever. Grievous shall be the burden on the Day of Resurrection, 101 On the day when the trumpet will be sounded We will raise the criminals from their graves and their eyes will be turned blue and blind. 102 They will slowly talk to each other and say, "Our life on earth was as short as ten days". 103 We know well what they will say. The most just among them in the matter will declare: 'You have stayed away but one day' 104
