And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They said, "We will never cease being devoted to the calf until Moses returns to us." 91 [Musa (Moses)] said: "O Harun (Aaron)! What stopped you when you saw them going astray; 92 That thou followedst me not! Hast thou disobeyed my command? 93 "O son of my mother," (Aaron cried), do not pull me by my beard or my hair! I was really afraid you may say that I had created a rift among the children of Israel, and did not pay heed to your command." 94 Musa said: what was thy object, O Samiri? 95 He said: "I saw what they did not see. I picked up a handful of dust from the messenger's tracks and threw it in, for the idea seemed attractive to me." 96 Moses said, "Go away! Throughout your life you will not be able to let anyone touch you. This will be your punishment in this life. The time for your final punishment is inevitable. You will never be able to avoid it. Look at your god which you have been worshipping. We will burn it in the fire and scatter its ashes into the sea." 97 Your God is only the One God; there is no god, but He alone who in His knowledge embraces everything.' 98 Thus We tell you, (Muhammad), the stories of the past and We have given you the Quran. 99 Whoever turns away from it will bear a heavy burden on the Day of Judgement, 100 [Abiding] eternally therein, and evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load - 101 The Day whereon the trumpet will be blown into, and We shall gather the culprits on that Day blear-eyed, 102 In whispers will they speak to each other (saying): "You stayed not longer than ten (days)." 103 We know well what they will utter, whereas the wisest among them will say, “You have stayed just for a day.” 104
