If We ever favour man with Our Mercy, and then take it away from him, he becomes utterly desperate, totally ungrateful. 9 But if We give him a taste of favor after hardship has touched him, he will surely say, "Bad times have left me." Indeed, he is exultant and boastful - 10 Except those who show patience and do righteous good deeds, those: theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (Paradise). 11 Then would you possibly leave [out] some of what is revealed to you, or is your breast constrained by it because they say, "Why has there not been sent down to him a treasure or come with him an angel?" But you are only a warner. And Allah is Disposer of all things. 12 Or they may say, "He forged it," Say, "Bring ye then ten suras forged, like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever ye can, other than Allah!- If ye speak the truth! 13 Then if they respond you not, know that it hath been sent down only with the Knowledge of Allah, and that there is no god but he; are ye Muslims then? 14 Whoso desireth the life of the world and its pomp, We shall repay them their deeds herein, and therein they will not be wronged. 15 Those are the ones for whom there is not in the Hereafter but the Fire. And lost is what they did therein, and worthless is what they used to do. 16 So is the one who is upon the clear proof* from his Lord, and comes a witness upon it from Allah, and before it the Book of Moosa, a leader and a mercy; they accept faith in it; and whoever denies it from all the groups, then the fire is promised for him; so O listener, do not have any doubt concerning it; indeed it is the truth from your Lord; but most people do not believe. (* The Jews who accepted faith in the Qur’an.) 17 And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah. Such will be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord!" No doubt! the curse of Allah is on the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.) 18 who bar others from the Path of Allah and seek to make it crooked, they disbelieve in the Everlasting Life. 19 They can never frustrate God on earth, nor have they any protectors besides God. They will be subjected to double punishment, for they could neither hear nor see. 20 It is they who put their souls into ruin, and they lost all that they used to fabricate. 21 Assuredly, it is they in the Hereafter who will be the greatest losers. 22 The righteously striving believers who are humble before their Lord, will be the dwellers of Paradise wherein they will live forever. 23 ۞ These two kinds (of men) may be compared to the blind and deaf, and those who can see and hear well. Are they equal when compared? Will ye not then take heed? 24
