The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
