And when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, they fell prostrate (all) save Iblis; he refused. 116 and thereupon We said: "O Adam! Verily, this is a foe unto thee and thy wife: so let him not drive the two of you out of this garden and render thee unhappy. 117 Indeed, it is [promised] for you not to be hungry therein or be unclothed. 118 there, (you shall) neither thirst, nor suffer from the sun' 119 But the Shaitan made an evil suggestion to him; he said: O Adam! Shall I guide you to the tree of immortality and a kingdom which decays not? 120 So they both ate from it – thereupon their shame became manifest to them, and they started applying on themselves the leaves of heaven; and Adam lapsed in obeying his Lord, so did not reach his goal. (Of achieving immortality) 121 Thereafter his Lord exalted him, accepted his repentance, and bestowed guidance upon him, 122 (Allah) said:"Get you down (from the Paradise to the earth), both of you, together, some of you are an enemy to some others. Then if there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My Guidance shall neither go astray, nor fall into distress and misery. 123 But he who fails to heed My warning will have his means restricted; and on the Day of Resurrection We shall raise him blind." 124 He will say, "My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?" 125 (Allah) will say: "Thus didst Thou, when Our Signs came unto thee, disregard them: so wilt thou, this day, be disregarded." 126 So We recompense him who is prodigal and believes not in the signs of his Lord; and the chastisement of the world to come is more terrible and more enduring. 127 Did they not learn from the many generations that We destroyed before them, whose habitations they now frequent? Verily there are signs in this for men of understanding. 128
