۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 (On Abraham's arrival) they said: "Abraham, are you he who has done this to our gods?" 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 They then turned to themselves, and said: verily ye it is who are the wrong-doers. 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
