The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 177 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 and [in all your dealings] weigh with a true balance, 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do." 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
